Use this form to contest a parking infringement. If you have any evidence to support that the infringement was issued by mistake, you may upload it with this form.
This form can also be used to request Devonport City Council staff to investigate a parking infringement that you believe was issued incorrectly. Once submitted, the infringement will be placed on hold from today until you receive a response.
Council will issue one written response to this matter, and only one review application may be submitted for each infringement notice. Please ensure all relevant information and supporting documents are included with your application.
Please note that if you choose to make payment during this period, it cannot be refunded.
We consider this to be a severe injury or illness posing an immediate risk to a person’s life or long-term health.
If an emergency occurred, you’ll need to supply an official letter on letterhead from the hospital or treating doctor, confirming:
If your car breaks down, you’re expected to take swift action to remove it from the location or have it repaired.
If your car broke down, you’ll need to supply a:
This must be on official letterhead and include the company’s ABN and contact information. We’ll contact the provider to check the details.
Unfortunately, from time to time, applicants provide us with false or misleading documents. This is illegal and may lead to prosecution.
Council does not usually withdraw infringements resulting from user error, such as selecting an incorrect vehicle registration, choosing the wrong parking location, or entering incorrect details.
App users are responsible for ensuring all information is correct before commencing a parking session. The following evidence may be provided for review:
If you wish to report an issue with the EasyPark app, please contact EasyPark directly on 1300 734 070.
We don’t usually withdraw fines in these circumstances, even if you catch up with the parking officer later. Due to various reasons, meetings and work commitments may not always run on time.
We encourage drivers to choose parking areas and time limits that allow enough time to attend to commitments and allow for any delays.
We don’t usually withdraw fines in these circumstances.
As a condition of holding a driver licence, you’re expected to understand and comply with all Road Rules.
If you’re visiting Devonport from another state or country, you’re expected to know and comply with the Tasmanian Road Rules when driving in Tasmania.
You can learn more about the Road Rules by clicking here.
We don’t usually withdraw fines in these circumstances. Finding a sign confusing or forgetting to check it isn’t usually grounds for us to withdraw your fine.
The onus is on drivers to locate the sign that applies to them and comply with the information on all panels of that sign. In some cases, you may need to walk a short distance to read the sign.
Continuing to request a review on these grounds is highly unlikely to result in a successful outcome.
I mistakenly thought I could park here:
We don’t usually withdraw fines in these circumstances. Private vehicles can’t park in Loading Zones, even if you’re loading or unloading. The Road Rules specify which vehicle types can park here – this doesn’t need to be shown on the sign. View - Tasmanian Legislation Online
Being unaware of the strict eligibility requirements isn’t usually grounds for us to withdraw your fine.
We also don’t usually consider cases where you drove a replacement (private) vehicle because your usual (eligible) vehicle was unavailable on the day.
I’m eligible to park here but was held up: We don’t usually withdraw fines in these circumstances unless something verifiable and unforeseen happened outside of your control.
No Stopping signs indicate that a vehicle must not stop in the area for any reason, or any length of time, even with hazard lights on, or with occupants in the vehicle. Read more about View - Tasmanian Legislation Online
Your parking time starts as soon as your car stops in the bay. Continuing to make payment past the time limit on the sign (without moving your car) won’t reset the time limit. When the time limit ends, you must move your car from the area.
This isn’t a Devonport rule – it applies in all Australian states, regardless of whether parking fees are payable. We strictly enforce this rule. Read more about View - Tasmanian Legislation Online
If none of the above categories apply to your situation but you believe there is a valid reason for your fine to be reviewed, please continue with your request.
Make sure you provide full details along with any supporting documents from third parties. Supplying all relevant information up front helps us assess your request and make a decision.
