Devonport Council coordinates a program of events every year that aims to, promote community connection and participation, build a vibrant culture and stimulate economic activity within Devonport.

Spring Fling
Devonport’s Spring Fling is a vibrant, family-friendly festival held annually in October at Haines Waterfront Park. This free event transforms the Mersey River foreshore into a lively celebration of community spirit, local produce, and springtime joy.
Attendees can enjoy a variety of activities and entertainment, including live music performances, carnival rides, face painting, horse and carriage rides, henna art, roaming characters, and more.
Whether you’re a local or a visitor, the Devonport Spring Fling offers a delightful day out for all ages, celebrating the best of Tasmania’s North West.

Devonport Jazz is a 4 day music festival held on the last weekend in July, with performances held across venues in Devonport and surrounds. Devonport Jazz is highly acclaimed in the international Jazz scene, and has attracted artists including Kate Cebrano, James Morrsion, Don Burrows, Graeme Bell, Vince Jones, Janet Seidel, Graeme Lyall, Bob Barnard, Jamie Oehlers, Dan Barnett, Katie Noonan, and Ben Jones.
The Festival has been running since 2002 and attracts over 4000 patrons annually. The Festival promotes live performance and encourages patronage of local venues and businesses through association with Devonport Jazz.
In 2026, Devonport Jazz will be held from Thursday 23 – Sunday 26 July.

Christmas Parade
The highlight of Devonport’s Festive Season is the annual Christmas Parade, the parade is well attended and thousands line the parade route to celebrate our community coming together.
Held early in December to mark the beginning of the Festive Season, which also includes Carols By Candlelight, Christmas in the East and a huge community Christmas tree decorated with panels painted by local children.
Devonport’s community New Year’s Eve celebration – Eve in the City, is held each year, designed with families in mind. This event offers a range of free entertainment for kids, live music to suit the whole family, plus food and drink vendors.
This event has been running, in various formats since 2012 and attracts on average 8,000-10,000 people each year.

Eve in the City
Diamonds of Devonport
Since 2012 the Devonport community have celebrated International Women’s Week with the Diamonds of Devonport awards night. More recently the celebrations have grown into a week long calendar of events, with community organisations celebrating with lunches, outings and speaking events.

The Expo of Everything is a vibrant annual event celebrating lifelong learning, creativity, and community engagement. Held each year, the event invites people of all ages to explore new hobbies, connect with local groups, and discover a variety of activities.
The Expo features numerous local community groups and organisations, offering demonstrations, interactive sessions, and opportunities to join clubs or learn new skills. Participants often include musical bands, art clubs, educational institutions, and more.
The event aims to provide a platform for community groups, clubs, and organisations that promote learning, creativity, social inclusion, wellbeing, or community engagement. Whether you’re looking to pick up a new skill, find a new hobby, or join a club, the Expo of Everything offers something for everyone.

Harmony Day Celebration
Celebrated annually on March 21, Devonport embraces diversity and unity as we gather for an evening filled with cultural performances, delicious food trucks, and a warm, inclusive atmosphere.
Admission is free, activities are free, and all are welcome!
Attendees enjoy a rich array of cultural displays from around the world, including Africa, Chile, Indonesia, Colombia, Sri Lanka, Greece, Thailand, India, Ireland, Cambodia, Samoa, and the Pacific Islands. The event also features multicultural games, engaging activities.
The success of this event is made possible through the collaboration between DCC Events staff and Welcome Cultural Services (WCS), this partnership, which leverages the valuable connections fostered by WCS within the multicultural community of Devonport, helps ensure the event’s widespread engagement and enjoyment.
